A gothic style photoshoot set in Lincoln.
One of many great shots I got with Kamila.

I can't believe how long I have neglected my own website, it's been a while since I have updated it with any content!

Anyway, this is a great opportunity for me to refresh things up a bit with some blog posts about some new photo projects that I have been involved in recently.

Back in March 2025, I had a week off the day job as a pharmacist and I booked 4 photoshoots in that week with 4 different models.

The weather was excellent, and I have to say, even though it was a pretty busy week for me, the sheer excitement and adrenaline of the shoots got me through no problem. Each shoot was in a different city, Lincoln, Leeds, Manchester and London. I ended up with thousands of shots, a lot of them keepers, so I was really pleased with the overall outcome.

Today, I'll focus on the first of the shoots, my so called Lincoln Gothic project.

I have to say, this was a lot of fun to work on. Kamila is a first year law student at Lincoln University, and she was an absolute blast to work with. Sometimes, you just end up having great creative chemistry with a model. This was one of those occasions.

I came across Kamila through a search I did of local models in my area. Sometimes you can look at a model and get an idea of their vibe through their portfolio of work, and I liked the look and vibe that Kamila gave off. So I got in touch with her and asked her if she wanted to do a Gothic style shoot around Lincoln Cathedral. She was up for it and the rest was history. We shot on a Monday morning/lunchtime, so it wasn't too busy with tourists. We were blessed with incredible sunny weather, and to say it was the end of March, I could not believe how good the quality of the light was on that day. It was warm as well, so shooting conditions were essentially perfect.

As with most shoots, I paired my Fuji XH2s with my trusted Fuji 33mm f 1.4 prime lens and the results were incredible:

I have a ton more photos from this set to edit and publish, so hopefully I'll get these up on the site pretty soon.

The only disappointment was that the video footage that I took didn't really turn out all that well:

I shot both videos in standard Rec 709 format using the Provia/Standard film simulation. It was shot in 6.2K Pro Res HQ open gate, but for some reason the footage looked crap. I think I may have underexposed a bit through my ND filter, but regardless the footage wasn't great, it was pretty muddy. I'm still learning how to colour grade as well, so it's taking time for me to get the best out my FujiXH2s video capabilities.

Since then, I have switched to almost exclusively using F LOG2 as the colours and quality of the footage is so much better in my opinion.

So, that was a brief summary of one my recent shoots, plenty more to come!
